Abstract

The load carrying capacity of beam columns may also be governed by the stability problem of lateral torsional buckling. For the analysis the elastic lateral torsional buckling moment Mcr must be known which depends on the lateral torsional buckling coefficient k. It is reported on the effect of structural details which causes different restraints and their consequence on this coefficient k.
