Abstract

The failure patterns and local buckling strength of polygonal closed stub columns are investigated analytically and experimentally. The local buckling strength is examined with regard to aspect ratios, bent angles, numbers of sides and failure patterns. The lower and mean local buckling strength curves of polygonal closed sub columns are proposed.
