Stability problems of aluminium alloy members: the ECCS methodology
Abstract
The incoming preparation of the Eurocode 9 for the design of aluminium structures recalls the attention on the wide activity which has been developed by the ECCS Committee for the assessment of the stability problems of aluminium alloy members. The calculation methods for checking columns, beams and beams - columns are validated by a conspicuons amount of experimental evidence and numerical analysis, which makes them still available for design and codification purpuses. For these reasons, it seems important to re-propose the ECCS methodology as a background documentation for the new Eurocode 9.
