Direct numerical simulations of 2D and 3D turbulent reactive mixing layers
Abstract
Passive scalars in turbulent flows have been already considered as a subject of specific interest ( Chollet & Lesieur 1981 ). When these scalars are concentrations C i of species i which undergo chemical reactions, they evolve under the competing effects of flow advection-diffusion and chemical reactions. Coherent eddy structures which develop from instabilities strongly influence the evolution of these species fields ( Chollet et al. 1991b ).
