Abstract

1 This paper deals with the problem of parametric optimization of large and complex structure when substructuring approachs are used in dynamics. In this particular context, it may be possible that some substructures are not allowed to change in design, the optimization parameters being so located on the others substructures, which are so in fact the optimizable substructures. It may also be possible to optimize the global dynamic behavior by using the optima of each optimizable substructures. To determine such optima, it is necessary to describe the substructure optimization process by local constraint and objective. For this, we have to calculate the global (structure) sensitivities to local (substructures) parametric variation. In this particular context, it can be shown that such sensitivities for the global structure can be derived from those of the substructures. These sensitivities are used to optimize the dynamic behavior of structure divided in three substructures in which only one has variable parameters.
