Numerical analysis of electric road heating coupled with full-scaled experiments
Abstract
A full-scale model of melting snow on a road by Joule heating was constructed and a series of experiments are performed. Temperature response within six hours, which means night preheating, is obtained repeatedly. Numerical analysis was also executed, and satisfactory agreement established. A set of influences under typical variation in the climate are realized both experimentally and theoretically. Finally important thermal behavior is simulated through numerical analysis with the design concept.
