Abstract

The paper defined the concept of failure time in the creep of frozen soil subjected to varying stress. Based on the linear accumulation principle of damage, a failure time criterion was proposed for the estimation of long-term failure of frozen soil. Experimental results of Lanzhou sand under two-step stress verified the valid of the criterion.
