Model tests of micropile networks applied to slope stabilization
Abstract
A series of direct shear tests were conducted on Fontainebleau (France) sand to evaluate the influence of thin wire inclusions on shear strength and load-deformation behavior. The purpose for the series of tests was to assess the potential of improving slope stability using micropiles and micropile networks (micropiles connected at the top). The inclusions improved the shear strength and load-deformation characteristics, with the greatest improvements provided by the networks.
