Abstract

When analysis of serviceability state design is required, the real force-balanced loading and appropriate wall displacements should be anticipated due to soil-structure interaction. Computational algorithm for backfilled retaining walls was elaborated assuming earth pressure at rest as the initial and comparative state of loading. Paying attention to some indistinctnesses concerning the coefficient K0 and pressure-at-rest distribution, the case of compaction-induced earth pressure based on the hysteretic stress model of soil (HSM) is considered in detail.
