Abstract

This paper describes the stress distribution under a rigid slab being vertically loaded ; the pressure in soil is measured by electric cells. It shows one of the way to use the Pneusol (Tyresoil) in Civil Engineering : as a distributor of vertical stresses. Experimental results presented herein show the influence of a 2-layer soil-Pneusol on the stress distribution. A theoretical study of the Pneusol behaviour using the homogenisation method is also presented.
