Abstract

This paper attempts a comparative analysis of some plane thermoelastic problems involving an elastic, microperiodic two-layered composite weakened by two types of interface defects: a Griffith crack and a ribbon-like absolutely rigid inclusion. The study is based on the concepts of a new approximate treatment by using the homogenized model with microlocal parameters. Useful solutions with the standard (non-oscillatory) inverse square-root singularity are obtained, so the stress intensity factors are employed as local failure parameters. As the illustration of final results, a simple example is given.
