Abstract

Efficient design of continuous composite slabs in steel-frame or masonry wall construction is discussed, with particular attention being paid to three aspects, viz. moment redistribution, crack control and the calculation of positive moment capacity. Simplified equations are given which enable composite slabs to be designed by hand calculation.
