Nonlinear discrete crack model of concrete arch dams
Abstract
There has been extensive research to examine the effect of contraction joints opening in the nonlinear response of arch dams. However, a complete nonlinear dynamic study is required to focus on possible failure mechanisms formed by certain potential separated blocks. In this paper the dynamic stability of these blocks is investigated for a typical concrete arch dam.
