Abstract

This paper presents the case for utilising nonlinear finite elements to determine the strength, stiffness and cracking patterns of slender reinforced concrete wall panels containing openings. The panels are analysed for one-way and two-way actions. Advanced constitutive models for material behaviour coupled with a geometric nonlinearity model available in the software DIANA are used for this purpose. The FE predictions of behaviour and strength are assessed on the basis of experimental results.
