Abstract

It is a reinforcing method of foundation ground that the bearing capacity is improved by laying the reinforcing material geogrid in the ground. Now, however, its reinforcing effects and the characteristics of bearing capacity as for the reinforced ground etc. are not sufficiently cleared. In this paper, analytical investigation for the bearing capacity of the geogrid reinforced ground is performed. At first, the analyses of unreinforced ground are performed by finite element method and an adequacy of the analytical skill is verified by comparison between analytical values and theoretical values. Next, the results of the finite element analyses performed about the model experiments with geogrid are investigated and the characteristics of bearing capacity as for the reinforced ground are discussed.
