Abstract

Extensive mining in the deep open pit mine CSA in Northwest Bohemia may influence the stability of the steep slopes of the Krusné hory Mts. Long-term tilt, induced seismicity and elevation measurements, besides some other observations, have been carried out in two exploration galleries to monitor geomechanical processes in the rock massif. Some non-tidal tilt anomalies proved to indicate forthcoming local induced microtremors documented by seismograms. The system appears to work as an efficient tool which should provide warning signals before a massif failure arrives.
