Control of strength parameters of tailings used for construction of reservoir dams
Abstract
The paper describes the procedure for the evaluation of density and strength parameters of copper mine tailings used for construction of the dams of Żelazny Most reservoir in Poland. Particular attention in this paper is given to site investigations in which the CPTU method was used. The paper contains the relationships between cone resistance, angle of internal firction, undrained shear strength and relative density of mine tailings. The dilatocone test results used for identification of deformation moduli of tailings were also presented.
