Abstract

Most investigations of the profiles of hydraulic fill beaches have concerned the deposition of tailings in air. Although this is probably the most important problem of hydraulic fill beaches, it is also important to consider other types of hydraulic deposition. This paper investigates the shapes of beaches formed by deposition under water and through water, and also the profiles formed when a beach deposited in air runs into water. The phenomena are complex and the present investigation raises at least as many questions as it answers.
