The JRC-Centre for Earth Observation Algorithms, Models and Software (AMS) System

The Joint Research Centre (JRC) of the Commission of the European Communities has established a Centre for Earth Observation (CEO) under the Framework IV Programme. Part of the CEO’s task is to develop systems to facilitate the use of Earth observation (EO) data. The Algorithms, Models and Software (AMS) project is part of this infrastructure. It provides an inventory, searchable via the World Wide Web (WWW), of EO and GIS-related software and models, plus a bibliography of related technical papers and reports. This paper describes the motivation behind the development of AMS, provides some details of the structure and use of AMS, and gives details of the ways in which the AMS inventory can be accessed and updated.
