Abstract

The paper describes two alternate techniques developed to create synthetic response images, starting from fractal images. The purpose of constructing these images is to test whether the End member model, specifying the relationship between cover conditions and image response, provides a good description of this relationship. The paper shows that the images created by one technique do indicate that this model is a good approximation of what actually happens in natural environments but not agricultural and other man controlled environments, whilst the other technique was found to be unsatisfactory. The work has also indicated lines of future development and research.
