Abstract

Polarimetric data at L- and C-band and C-band XTI-data were acquired by the airborne EMISAR over a geological test site on the East coast of Greenland. The objective of the project was to investigate the potential of SAR in geological mapping of rugged, glacially molded terrain. The radar data are useful in generating elevation maps and analysing geological structures. A detailed classification of rock types and lithologies on the basis of only the radar images is not possible for this type of terrain. Only alluvial deposits can be identified more or less clearly.
