The earth explorer missions: An overview
Abstract
Beyond the year 2000 the European Space Agency is proposing two classes of missions one of which focusses on advancing the development of new observing techniques and our understanding of the different Earth system processes i.e. the Earth Explorer Missions. This paper outlines the current state of the programme and outlines the objectives of the nine candidates missions that were considered for the first mission.
