Abstract

This paper presents a series of investigations dealing with the damage of composite materials and composites structures, to predict damage when the features of loading are known, and to determine damage when the history of loading is unknown. The first example deals with the tridimensional modeling of damage in composite materials. We propose a mechanism based mode which strongly depends on the structural anisotropy of the material and on the orientation of loading. In the second example we try to exhibit the relevant parameters of effective structures and we develop a simple case : gluing of two anisotropic materials with periodic array of slits with elastic slip situated at the interface between the two media. The effects are illustrated on woven composite materials.
