Degradable Polymers
Abstract
This review summarizes several topics on biodegardable polymers reported in the polymer symposium in 1997 in Japan. New trends in this area are: (1) Synthesis of copolymers of lactic acid for the modification of their physical properties and biodegradability and (2) Modification of biodegradability of poly(lactic acid) or poly(vinyl alcohol) by blending other polymers. In this review, synthesis of biodegradable polymers and modification of biodegradability.
