Abstract

The objective of this project is to make a channel network by using the existing rivers, irrigation and drainage channels, as well as constructing numerous connecting channels, based on the concepts of urban disaster prevention channels of Koshigaya city. The improvement of the channel network involves the reclamation of waterside space in urban areas and prevention of natural disasters. The objectives are: l)To provide clean waterside space to the people through friendly open channels, and to provide a feeling of prosperity and peace of mind. 2)To serve as water for fire-extinguishing purposes and household use during times of emergency such as great fires. 3)To discharge rainwater during floods or control floods. This thesis concerns the construction of the waterside network and planning for friendly open channels making up the network.
