Experimental studies on a system for catching Oncomelania in irrigation channels
Abstract
To prevent the spread of Oncomelania through irrigation channels, a new experimental method known as the Oncomlania Catching System (OCS) is presented. The proposed OCS imitates the hydraulic effects that are necessary both to separate snails from load materials and to deposit them in the collecting pool of the OCS. The results of experiments on live snails shows that the OCS possesses exceptionally high success rates in catching Oncomelania in channel flows.
