The influence of sea level rise upon flood/tidal level of the Pearl River Delta
Abstract
In this paper, two dynamic factors affecting estuary water levels have been analyzed deeply. More than 190 representative flood series occurred in recent 40 years have been chosen and divided into 7 discharge grades. The corresponding tidal level correlation of 40 flood/tidal stations in the Pearl River Delta and Sanzao station at sea has been established, which can well reflect the physics mechanism influencing water level variation in estuary region. Under the different runoff, as sea level rising to different height, influence extent of sea level rise upon each flood/tidal water level station in the Pearl River delta has been calculated and 4 influence regions have been divided.
