Abstract

The vorticity dynamics of the bent-over buoyant jet in the far field have been investigated by two-dimensional numerical solutions with similarity transformation. By introducing Prandtl’s free shear layer model to enclosure turbulent governing equations, the semi-analytical computed streamlines and vorticity clearly indicate a vortex-pair flow. The distribution of scalar field in the advected flow grows up from single cell to kidney-shaped double peak structure. The calculated jet flow field agrees well with experimental results.
