Anisotropic buoyant turbulence model and its application
Abstract
By analyzing the components of Reynolds stresses of implicit algebraic stress model(IASM), this paper assumes that Reynolds stresses in buoyant turbulent flows are induced by both strain and buoyancy. Thereby, a nonlinear anisotropy buoyant turbulence model is developed by applying equilibrium hypothesis to Reynolds stress transports. The model has taken account of buoyancy and avoided numerical singularity. The model is applied to simulate vertical buoyant jets from the bottoms of tidal flows. The numerical results are reasonable and state that the model can predict the important role of buoyancy in tidal flows.
