Abstract

In the present study, the specific three-dimensional behaviors of coherent vortices in unsteady open-channel flows over dune bed were accurately measured by means of simultaneous use of two sets of laser Doppler anemometer. The conditional sampling analysis, which is applicable for the unsteady open-channel flows, is examined with a definition of some fixed-times of flood period. By using the analysis, conditional space-time correlation was evaluated, so that differences of convection properties on coherent vortices between the rising and falling stages of flood period, and interactions of coherent vortices, were recognized.
