Abstract

The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) government has commissioned the setting up and delivery of an Upgraded model for water movement, stratification and water quality of Hong Kong waters. Using the Delft3D modelling suite hydrodynamic and water quality models have been set up ( Ng et al., 1998 ). The hydrodynamic model has proven to reproduce spatial and temporal patterns of water levels, velocities and stratification correctly for typical dry season and wet season situations. The water quality model was set up to reproduce bacteria, BOD-DO, Suspended sediment, N-, P- and Si-fractions and Algae throughout the year.
