Heat balance analysis in the Bay of Tokyo
Abstract
The energy budget model with bulk aerodynamic formula can describe air-sea exchange of heat in large spatial scale without much complication. Sea surface temperature(SST) distribution pattern of Tokyo Bay is studied and mean yearly net heat content of Tokyo-Bay is estimated using NOAA/AVHRR remote-sensing data from 1990 to 1994. Distribution of SST over Tokyo bay is not uniform in all months of a typical year. In the winter season, the inlet of the bay has higher temperature than the farthest point and in the summer season this pattern reverses. For net heat content, the inlet has lower value than the farthest point in the summer.
