Abstract

SPanCad is a PC-oriented design tool for shear-walls and D-regions in beams of structural concrete. The program is based on just two elements: a stringer (straight bar) and a panel (rectangular or quadrilateral). The design is done in three distinct steps: The first one is full elastic, the second non-linear one accounts for cracking of concrete and yielding of panel reinforcement whilst the stringer reinforcement is still kept elastic and the final third one is a full non-linear simulation of the structure. Validation of the method is shown and a design example is made.
