High performance concrete structures – Experience and risk analysis
Abstract
Concrete production methods and material compositions have changed radically during the last few decades. This change has partly been driven by a globally recognised crisis in concrete durability and partly by the need to justify large investments in e.g. the infrastructure by predictions of very long service lives of these structures. Based on observation of recently constructed major structures it is probable that the general approach toward High Performance does not always yield the expected results. The paper addresses topics like increased production robustness of concretes and introduction of risk assessment analysis in the construction planning phase.
