On actual ground exposure and its effects on wind-induced structural responses and economic loss estimation
Abstract
In this study, formulae for actual ground roughness exponent are proposed on the basis of measured data from both wind-tunnel and full-scale experiments, of ground roughness-induced wind energy dissipation analysis, as well as of current Chinese and other countries’ loading codes. The effects of the actual ground roughness exponent on wind-induced structural responses and economic loss estimation are then investigated. Examples of practical engineering projects are used for demonstration.
