Abstract

Model testing and flow visualization are useful, not only for predicting the wind flows around buildings at pedestrian level, but also for developing remedial solutions for unacceptable conditions. The design of remedial solutions is affected by a number of factors including the amount of wind speed reduction required and the feasibility of implementing an appropriate solution. A larger scale model may be required for detailed measurements and flow visualization. This paper provides insight into this subject through four case studies based on recent consulting projects.
