Buffeting control of the Yangpu Bridge using multiple tuned mass dampers
Abstract
A preliminary strategy of using multiple tuned mass damper (MTMD) system on buffeting control of the Yangpu Bridge are presented in this paper. The control efficiency of the MTMD system is sensitive to its frequency characteristics. On the other hand, the damping ratio of the TMDs has less significant effects on the control efficiency. A level-type of TMD has been proposed which requires less space for installation as compared to the traditional hanging type of TMD.
