Numerical simulation of the wind flow on a low energy building
Abstract
This paper presents a comparison between experimental and numerical results concerning a low-energy building. The site layout and the main wind direction allow the computation to be restricted to a 2D domain. Turbulent kinetic energy, mean vertical and horizontal velocity components are examined and a sensitivity study on inflow boundary conditions is presented. A comparison of the results produced by several turbulence models indicates that the RNG low Reynolds number k — e turbulence model gives the best prediction concerning the vertical mean velocity component over the roof.
