Abstract

In many locations, the extreme winds produced by thunderstorm downdrafts are dominant in relation to the wind loading of structures. This paper reviews a variety of work that has been carried out in Australia and elsewhere during the last few years, on various aspects of thunderstorm downburst winds, including extreme value and risk analysis, and modelling of velocity profiles.
