Performance characteristic curve of heavy-medium separator
Abstract
Based on the theory of terminal settling velocity in gravity separation of minerals, coupled with overall consideration of the structural and operating parameters of a separator, a method for calculating the effective performance of heavy medium (HM) separators is proposed. By using this method the performance curve of the JLT (vertical lifting wheel separator) series HM separator can be drawn. This provides a simple and practical tool for appropriate selection of separator and precise determination of the rated capacity of a separator selected for use under different process requirement.
