Abstract

It is assumed that the mechanism of entrainment of ultra-fine slimes, a source causing contamination of flotation concentrate, is based on the coating and lifting up action of bubble aggregate for hydrophilic particles. The highly selective oscillating separator developed by authors has been proven to be effective for lowering the ash of concentrate. The FJG-S8 high-selective flotation cell has also been developed based on the principle of similarity, the main structural and kinetic parameters has been determined scientifically. Field operation of the cell for treating typical difficult-to-float fine coal demonstrates that the cell offers a good selectivity. As compared with the XJM-S8 cell originally used, with identical ash of tailings, the ash of concentrate is 1.39% lower with a floatation perfection index 3.54 % higher.
