Effectiveness of organizational structure of a mining enterprise
Abstract
The paper presents results of a study on effectiveness of the organization structure of a Polish mining company. An attempt has been made to assess the complexity, centralization and formalization i.e. three dimensions of the organization structure of an existing mine. A questionnaire survey performed among the employees of the mine has revealed their attitudes towards the organization structure and their evaluation of the three dimensions. In both the objective and the subjective approaches the organization structure came out to be complex, very formalized and centralized. This type of organization structure traditionally dominates in Polish mining industry. Is it still effective in the dynamically changing economic, political and technological environment?
