New technology of underground coal gasification and its economic evaluation
Abstract
The new technology of underground coal gasification (UCG) has been developed on the bases of coal mining technology, especially on the traditional methods in China. With the features of “long tunnel, large section and two stage”, this new technology would provide a potential solution to the problems faced by coal industry worldwide, such as numerous abandoned resources, surface subsidence, serious environmental pollution and low economic benefits if it is industrialized. In this paper the engineering feasibility and economic evaluations of UCG are analyzed.
