Longwall top coal caving method — Highly efficient mining method used in Yanzhou coalfield
Abstract
The top coal caving method was initiated in the 1940’s. In early 1990’s this method had been successfully introduced to longwall coal mines of China. It assures high production, safety and low production cost. Yanzhou Mining Group Corporation Ltd. has pioneered introduction of this innovate coal mining technique, and uses extensively in thick seams. Many experimental practices, regarding modified mining system, caving supports, operation processes and mining parameters, have been developed to make this mining method much more efficient and sophisticated.
