The lithofacies-palaeogeography of the Huabei huge coal basin
Abstract
The characteristics of the epeiric sea, tidal deposits, event deposits, platform and barrier island systems and their composite systems of the coal-bearing sequences are discussed in this paper. There are two coal-forming environments namely peat swamps and peat flats. Sea level changes and sequence stratigraphy are also discussed. All these are essential to understand the Late Palaeozoic Huabei huge coal basin.
