Abstract

The outburst phenomenon of rock or coal outbursts has been studied by computing the buckling modes and analyzing bulging instabilities. The model takes into consideration both geometric non-linearity and elastic-plastic properties of rock mass. The simulation runs of the FEM based model are in good agreement with the actual outbursts reported in this paper.
