Study of the motion of overlying strata in top-coal caving system by finite deformation mechanics
Abstract
The motion character of main moving strata, which plays a leading role to the whole overlying strata, is studied by means of traditional elastic and plastic theories as well as finite deformation mechanics. The concept of finite deformation beam is used to explain the mechanical behavior of longwall top-coal caving area and forecast the stress distribution in the process of mining. The method to discriminate the stability of finite deformation strata is also proposed in this paper.
