Numerical simulation study of separations between strata
Abstract
This paper presents a Discrete Strata Method that simulates the strata movement and separation between strata caused by mining. It regards the rock mass as stacked by discrete strata. A mixed finite element formula of the incremental mode is developed. New separations can be judged by the state stress between strata and then the separating process can be simulated dynamically by taking the continuous conditions away from the new separation. The numerical examples show that the Discrete Strata Method (DSM) is effective and feasible for the dynamical simulation of rock strata movement and deformation.
