Abstract

Computer modelling has long been a subject of interest and numerous models have been developed for mining and geotechnical applications. The Geotechnics Research Unit at the University of Nottingham has been active in a number of applied research activities, including surface subsidence, Rock Mass Classification, strata behaviour, roadway support design and environmental impact associated with active and abandoned mines. The paper introduces the on-going research using numerical modelling techniques in mining related problems.
