Abstract

Based on analysis of forces acting on inner lining of a vertical shaft the best characteristics of sliding layer between outer and inner shaft lining were determined. Secondly, a series of simulation tests were carried at different temperatures and pressures in order to study the mechanical features of selected materials of sliding layer, and the relations among the long-term shear strength, temperature and pressure were defined. The results provide guidelines for design of inner shaft lining. The investigations indicate that when suitable material with reasonable thickness of sliding layer is used, the horizontal pressure is a key factor in the determination of the thickness of inner shaft lining.
